Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour denounced on Saturday Israeli violations of Lebanon's airspace, considering that they come in context of the continuous aggressive acts that violates the country's sovereignty.

“These violations will not change Israel's violent nature that we are used to,” Mansour said.

The families of the pilgrims held in Syria's Aazaz area staged a sit-in near the Turkish Pegasus Airlines in Beirut on Saturday to protest the ongoing abduction of their loved ones, reported the National News Agency.

The protesters prevented the airlines staff from heading to their offices located near the Bourj al-Murr area.

A Lebanese security official denied on Monday that a drone downed by the Israeli air force off the northern coast of Israel had been sent from Lebanon.

The official, who was not identified, told An Nahar newspaper that Israel rushed to the conclusion that Hizbullah was behind the unmanned aircraft (UAV) that the Israeli military said was intercepted five nautical miles off the coast of Haifa last Thursday.

The Israeli army increased its security alert along the border with Lebanon a day after it accused Hizbullah of sending a drone that it shot down several miles off the coast of the northern city of Haifa.

According to the state-run National News Agency, the Lebanese army and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) deployed heavily along the border “to prevent any military escalation.”

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margolo is due to arrive in Beirut on Tuesday eve for talks with senior Lebanese officials.

The FM will arrive in Lebanon via from Cyprus on the first stop of his regional tour, accompanied by a diplomatic delegation.

The March 14 General Secretariat renewed on Wednesday its call on Hizbullah to cease its fighting in Syria, “which will leave a deep scar on Lebanese-Syrian ties.”

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “Hizbullah's fighting alongside the Syrian regime and at Iran's behest will pave the way for Sunni-Shiite strife, which the party only warns of in words, but is actively working for.”

The March 14 General Secretariat hoped on Wednesday that Premier-designate Tammam Salam would succeed in a forming a government of “national reconciliation.”

It demanded that all parties “cooperate honestly with him and refrain from setting obstacles that only serve factional interests at the expense of national ones.”

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly called on Tuesday for discussions among the country's political leaders “to reach consensus on the way forward” after Prime Minister Najib Miqati's resignation last week.

“We hope that all concerned will engage in a positive spirit to ensure that Lebanon is able to meet the challenges ahead,” said Plumbly following talks with Miqati at the Grand Serail.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held a ceremony on Tuesday at the mission headquarters to mark 35 years of its peacekeeping presence in southern Lebanon.

Representatives from the Lebanese armed and security forces, local mayors and community leaders attended the ceremony. Also in attendance were peacekeepers representing the 38 different national contingents that make up UNIFIL.

The Phalange Party warned on Monday of the dangerousness of the situation along the Lebanese-Syrian border, saying they may soon turn into an “open front.”

It therefore demanded after its weekly politburo meeting that the border areas “be declared a military zone under the control of the army.”
