Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday warned the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas against any "compromise" in its fight against Tehran's nemesis Israel, his official website reported.

"Always be wary of infiltration by the compromisers in a resistance organization, which will gradually weaken it," Khamenei told the visiting Hamas Gaza prime minister Ismail Haniya, according to the leader.ir website.

The Palestinians will ask the Arab League to call for the convening of an "international peace conference" during talks in Cairo, a Palestinian official told Agence France Presse on Sunday.

Azzam al-Ahmad, who is in Cairo with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for talks with the Arab League representatives, said the delegation would seek backing for the conference, without giving further details.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the construction of buildings in the West Bank to serve as an educational facility for special-needs youth, his office said on Friday.

The site, named Gevaot and located in the Gush Etzion bloc, "is not a settlement nor is it new in the Gush Etzion regional council, and is part of Alon Shvut," a nearby settlement, the statement from Barak's office said.

The Hamas prime minister in Gaza, Ismael Haniya, is on Friday to make a visit to Iran, which is celebrating the anniversary of its 1979 Islamic revolution, Iranian government officials said.

The Palestinian was to be received by Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, the officials said, without giving other details or the duration of the visit.

A rocket fired by Palestinian militants from the Gaza Strip hit southern Israel late on Monday causing no casualties or damage, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.

"A Qassam rocket hit an open field in the Sha'ar Hanegev regional council," the spokeswoman told Agence France Presse.

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal will meet on Sunday in Qatar, Fatah party spokesman Azzam al-Ahmed told Agence France Presse on Friday.

Abbas and Meshaal "will discuss forming a government and political questions after the failure of talks" with Israel, Ahmed said.

Four rockets fired from the Gaza Strip struck inside Israel on Wednesday, causing neither casualties nor damage, an Israeli police spokesman said.

The rocket fire came as U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon visited Israel and the Palestinian territories. He is scheduled to visit Gaza on Thursday.

The March 14 General Secretariat praised on Wednesday the Syrian National Council’s open letter to the Lebanese people, saying that a free and independent Syria’s recognition of a sovereign Lebanon is the only way to rebuild solid Lebanese-Syrian ties based on trust and cooperation.

It said in a letter to the Syrian people: “Democratic change in Syria will mark an historic opportunity for its development and guarantee Lebanon’s independence.”

The head of the Hamas government in Gaza, Ismail Haniya, arrived in Qatar on Monday, beginning a regional tour that is also expected to take in Kuwait, Bahrain and Iran.

The official Qatari News Agency said Haniya's visit to the Gulf emirate will "last several days," while diplomats said he will leave Doha on Saturday, after leading the main weekly Muslim prayers at noon on Friday.

Israel laid out a vision for an "impossible" border during exploratory talks with the Palestinians in Amman this month, a Palestinian official told Agence France Presse on Sunday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Israeli officials presented principles for their policy on future borders during the final round of the discussions organized by Jordan and the peacemaking Quartet.
