Palestinian Killed in Clashes with Israeli Army over Jerusalem

A Palestinian wounded by Israeli army gunfire on the outskirts of Jerusalem died in hospital on Friday night after a day of clashes in and around the holy city, medics said.

Ramallah hospital emergency room staff said that Tareq Arumi, 23, was hit in a clash with troops during the afternoon in protests in the West Bank neighborhood of al-Ram, adjacent to Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem.

Abbas, Meshaal Delay Palestinian Unity Talks

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his rival Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal on Thursday postponed talks on forming a unified government, a Fatah official said, in a further delay to ending an almost five-year rift.

The official with the Abbas-led party said the talks were postponed "because Hamas continues to prevent the election committee from registering voters in Gaza," the Islamist-ruled Palestinian territory.

Palestinian Ends 66-Day Hunger Strike after Deal Reached

A Palestinian prisoner has ended his 66-day hunger strike over his detention without charge under a deal that will see him released in April, Palestinian and Israeli officials told Agence France Presse on Tuesday.

"The Israeli court decided to release Khader Adnan on April 17 and based on that he ended his hunger strike," Palestinian prisoner affairs minister Issa Qaraqaa said.

Moussawi Slams Syria ‘Humanitarian Corridors,’ Calls for Dialogue in Lebanon

Hizbullah MP Nawaf Moussawi criticized on Monday calls for the U.N. Security Council to discuss the setting up of “humanitarian corridors” to allow an aid group to reach areas hit with the Syrian army crackdown.

“Where were these humanitarian corridors to aid the Palestinian people in Gaza that is still suffering from the (Israeli) siege?” Moussawi said.

Israel Arrests 3 Palestinians at al-Aqsa Compound

Israeli police said they arrested three Palestinians in the grounds of the flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque complex in Jerusalem on Sunday after tourists visiting the site as well as police were stoned.

"Stones were thrown at tourists and police officers, police have made three arrests ... three suspects involved in throwing stones," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Agence France Presse. "The situation is calm at present," he said.

Israeli Court Rejects Palestinian Hunger Striker's Appeal

An Israeli military court on Monday rejected an appeal by a Palestinian prisoner who has been on hunger strike for more than eight weeks over his detention without charge, his lawyer Jawad Bulus said.

"The judge at the military appeals court rejected the appeal and approved the administrative detention order," Bulus told Agence France Presse, saying that his client Khader Adnan was still refusing food after 58 days.

Jumblat: Lebanon Has Failed in Ending Oppression against Syrian People

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat condemned on Monday Lebanon’s position on the Arab League decision on Syria, saying that it had failed the Syrian people.

Israeli Police, Palestinian Protesters Clash in Jerusalem

Israeli police used tear gas and rubber bullets against stone-throwing Palestinians in the Issawiya district of annexed east Jerusalem on Sunday, Israeli police and an Agence France Presse journalist said.

"Five Palestinians were arrested after attacking a police and border guard patrol with stones," police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.
