The Lebanese army filed a complaint with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) against a Spanish officer who crossed the barbed wire and met with Israeli troops.

According to the complaint, the army considered the incident a violation of Lebanese sovereignty.

A senior Israeli military officer has warned that the Jewish state would launch a ferocious war on Lebanon if Hizbullah retaliated to an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

“Despite the inevitable international outcry, Israel would be left with no choice but to lay waste to swathes of southern Lebanon because Hizbullah has entrenched itself so deeply within the civilian population,” the officer told The Telegraph.

An Israeli military observation balloon has crashed accidentally in Israel near the Gaza Strip, an army spokeswoman said on Saturday.

"An observation balloon of the army crashed Friday in Israel near the security fence" between the Jewish state and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, she told Agence France Presse.

Deputy Head of Hizbullah's Executive Council Sheikh Nabil Qaouq slammed on Saturday U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman for interfering in the elections, considering it as a “violation of sovereignty and dignity.”

“His discussions that focused on the elections confirm that he is the actual leader of the March 14 forces in Lebanon,” Qaouq said.

Speaker Nabih Berri has found no reason in postponing Thursday’s cabinet session and reiterated that he would hold the government accountable if it continues to procrastinate on decisions linked to oil exploration.

There was no justification in postponing the session “amid the circumstances and the strikes carried out by more than one sector,” An Nahar daily on Saturday quoted Berri as saying.

An Israeli military unit crossed on Friday the Blue Line near the area of al-Shahil in Shebaa.

Al-Manar television reported that a shepherd in the area escaped a kidnapping attempt by Israeli troops.

Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wu Zexian stressed on Friday the arms of Hizbullah are a Lebanese affair that “no one has the right to interfere in.”

“The Lebanese have to launch a dialogue concerning the matter in order to reach consensus,” Zexian told al-Akhbar newspaper in an interview.

Israeli troops on Thursday crossed the Blue Line while constructing the border wall that they started building on April 30, reported the National News Agency.

It said that the forces crossed 65 centimeters into Lebanese territory near Kfar Kila as they were attempting to expand the border wall beyond the measurements that had been agreed upon.

An overwhelming 48 percent of Israelis support the re-election of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a poll published Thursday ahead of an announcement on early general elections.

Netanyahu is expected to announce next week that he will be moving the vote up to September 4 this year from October 2013.
