Special Tribunal for Lebanon Prosecutor Norman Farrell filed on Wednesday a “confidential motion seeking amendments to the present indictment in the Ayyash et al. Case”, announced the STL on Thursday.

The proposed amendments set out certain clarifications.

The head of the defense office of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Francois Roux, hinted on Wednesday that the trial of Hizbullah members accused of involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri could be delayed.

In remarks to several Beirut newspapers during his visit to the Lebanese capital, Roux said Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen had set March 25 as a provisional date.

Special Tribunal for Lebanon Registrar Herman von Hebel met with Prime Minister Najib Miqati at the Grand Serail on Monday as part of scheduled talks with other Lebanese officials this week.

The STL said that von Hebel will meet in addition to Miqati and Lebanese officials, various representatives of the diplomatic community in Lebanon and the Tribunal's staff in Beirut.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon condemned the recent media reports claiming to reveal the identities of individuals who may be called to testify before the STL as witnesses, it announced in a statement on Tuesday.

“The Tribunal denounces in the strongest possible terms any attempts at witness intimidation,” it added.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat renewed on Monday his rejection of the Orthodox Gathering parliamentary electoral law, revealing that the party will present its position on the electoral law discussions.

He said in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa website: “Some sides are mistaken in believing that they can eliminate the other in the parliamentary elections.”

The spokesman of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon Marten Youssef criticized on Sunday the recent leaks of the identities of the witnesses linked to the upcoming trial, reported Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3).

He told the radio that the STL is accustomed to criticism, but any leaks put the lives of the witnesses in danger and jeopardize international justice.

Daryl Mundis was appointed this week as Deputy Registrar for the U.N.-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the 2005 assassination of former premier Rafik Hariri, the STL said on Monday.

Mundis replaces Kaoru Okuizumi, who left the Tribunal in October.

Defense counsel for the four accused Hizbullah members filed their Pre-Trial Briefs this week, challenging the Prosecutor’s allegations about the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, announced the Special Tribunal for Lebanon on Friday.

The Defense disputes the Prosecution’s account of the attack and the alleged involvement of the four accused, it said in a statement.

Opposition MP Marwan Hamadeh said Wednesday the formation of a salvation government is the first of three conditions set by the March 14 alliance to return to the national dialogue table.

President Michel Suleiman “knows what's the alternative to the resumption of dialogue,” Hamadeh told Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5).

Speaker Nabih Berri voiced his concern over a number of impending issues set to be tackled in 2013, including the ongoing dispute over a parliamentary electoral law, reported the daily An Nahar on Tuesday.

He expressed his fear “over the ongoing lack of communication between Prime Minister Najib Miqati and the March 14 opposition and its impact on the country.
