Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad blamed a "Western-Israeli alliance" and regional powers that back radical Sunni Islamist "takfiri" groups for Tuesday's deadly suicide bombings near the Iranian embassy in Beirut.

The mid-morning blasts ripped through a stronghold of Hizbullah, where the Iranian embassy is located, killing 23 people and wounding 146.

Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam denied that he has reached a dead-end and revealed that the March 14 alliance had been mulling to accept a cabinet formula in which it would get veto power along with the March 8 coalition but reversed its decision after fiery statements made by Hizbullah officials.

In remarks to As Safir daily published on Saturday, Salam said a proposal made by Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat to give 9 ministers to March 14, another 9 to March 8 and 6 ministers to centrists in the new cabinet was feasible for March 14.

In the framework of his regular meetings with different political factions, President Michel Suleiman met on Monday with Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad with talks focusing on the ongoing efforts to form a government and the necessity to distance Lebanon from the Syrian crisis.

“Suleiman is keen to maintain contacts with all factions, pinning hopes that a solution could emerge anytime,” sources told al-Joumhouria daily Tuesday.

Head of Hizbullah's Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Mohammed Raad on Sunday stressed that “the formation of a cabinet that does not reflect the real political weight of the country's main components is something totally out of the question."

Raad called on the political forces “not to commit a big mistake that might harm the country and hit society with further disintegration,” reiterating that Lebanon needs “a cabinet in which political forces are represented according to their parliamentary weight.”

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will make a televised speech on Monday to tackle the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.

Nasrallah's speech comes in light of security deployment in the party's stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammed Raad accused on Thursday the Mustaqbal Movement and some members of the March 14 alliance of creating incitement against Hizbullah over the security measures it has taken in and around its stronghold of Dahieh in Beirut's southern suburbs.

He said in a statement: “Their claims over the alleged autonomous security in Dahieh are part of an ongoing campaign against the resistance, its people, and supporters.”

Phlanage Party MP Sami Gemayel criticized on Thursday Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad's statements regarding the Baabda Declaration.

“Those who signed the Baabda Declaration then describe it merely as ink on paper consider that the Lebanese who are dying in Syria are only ink on paper,” Gemayel said in a tweet.

Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad stated on Wednesday that the Baabda Declaration “was born dead,” accusing political factions in the country of “hindering the commitment to national agreements.”

"Some groups want to cover their failure in building the state by tackling the resistance's weapons,” Raad said at an event celebrating the contributors to Hizbullah's al-Manar television and al-Nur radio.

Hizbullah "lamented" on Wednesday the kidnapping of the Turkish pilot and copilot, noting that efforts are exerted to release the abducted Turks and the Lebanese pilgrims.

"Hizbullah condemns the kidnapping of the two Turkish pilots and all abductions of civilians,” the party's MP Mohammed Raad said after meeting with Turkey's ambassador to Lebanon Inan Ozyildiz.

Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad revealed on Friday that it was premature to form the new government and criticized Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat for making a proposal whose success is not guaranteed

In remarks to Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5), Raad said a proposal to form a de facto government had been suggested by Premier-designate Tammam Salam since he was tasked with forming the cabinet.
