March 14: Complaint against Syrian Violations Helps Protect Lebanon from Damascus Schemes

The March 14 General Secretariat praised on Wednesday President Michel Suleiman’s complaint over Syria’s violations against Lebanon in which he requested the Foreign Ministry to file a complaint to Syria through its ambassador to Lebanon,

It said in a statement after its weekly meeting: “This position helps protect the country from the Syrian regime’s attempts to spread its crisis to Lebanon.”

In addition, it said that Lebanon is “facing another danger through Israel’s attempts to hold Hizbullah and Iran responsible for the attack” against a tourist bus in Bulgaria.

It also highlighted the danger of Israel’s claims that Syria may hand over Hizbullah chemical weapons in its possession.

Such a development may serve as a justification for Israel to wage a new war against Lebanon, said the March 14 General Secretariat.

“This danger requires immediate Lebanese action towards the international community, requesting its aid to help Lebanon against any Israeli assault,” it stressed.

“It also requires resolving the dispute over the illegal possession of arms, which Israel is using to justify its attack,” it explained.

Five Israelis and a Bulgarian were killed in a suicide attack against a tourist bus in Bulgaria last week.

The Pentagon said the attack bore "some of the hallmarks of Hizbullah."

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned on Wednesday that Israel would consider the transfer of Syrian chemical weapons to Hizbullah a "casus belli" and would act "without hesitation or restraint."

Syria admitted Monday that it possesses chemical weapons and warned that it would use them if it was attacked by an external aggressor, while saying it would not use them against its own civilians.

Addressing the flow of Syrian refugees to Lebanon, the March 14 General Secretariat demanded that the “Lebanese government provide them with their humanitarian and security need in accordance with international agreements.”

Moreover, it blamed the “confusion” of the March 8 forces for the ongoing kidnapping of the 11 Lebanese pilgrims.

It condemned the abduction of Syrian workers in Lebanon in an attempt to pressure the kidnappers to release the pilgrims.

“Such barbaric actions are reminiscent of the worst days of the Lebanese civil war,” added the statement.

“The Lebanese government is obligated to put an end to the security chaos,” it stressed.

A previously unheard of group calling itself "The Brigade of al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi" claimed on Monday responsibility for kidnapping of three Syrian opposition members in Lebanon with the aim of swapping them for 11 pilgrims abducted in Syria on May 22.

They abducted Syrians were released later on Monday.

I would say let us kick the syrian ambassador out of lebanon in a strong signal that lebanese territory must be respected..... where is HA and aoun, the so called resistance to at least protest against these incursions on lebanese territory..

The Assad regime and Israel are both threats to our national security...Assad, Iran, Hizaballa and Israel are all one and the same...

I disagree, we have solid proof that if Israel is left alone it will leave its neighbour alone. I know what everyone is going to jump down my throat for but the proof is simple: not a single bullet exchanged between Syria and Israel in thirty years. Get rid of the armed thugs who pose a threat to its borders and it will no long be a threat to Lebanon.

No jumping for your throat from me. I totally agree. Israel has no interest in invading or conquering (to the contrary of what HA wants their conditioned pigeons to beleive). They just want to defend/protect their border from any threats.

I also have to believe that we (Lebanon) have a greater chance of regaining our land from Israel if HA was totally out of the picture!
