Aoun at Arab Summit: Trump's Golan Decision Threatens Lebanese Sovereignty

President Michel Aoun on Sunday described U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Syria’s occupied Golan Heights as part of Israel as a “threat” to Lebanon’s sovereignty.
“Trump’s decision does not only threaten the sovereignty of a brotherly country, but also the sovereignty of the Lebanese state, especially in the Shebaa Farms and the Kfarshouba Hills,” Aoun warned in his speech before the 30th Arab Summit in Tunisia.
Israel had argued that the Shebaa Farms and the Kfarshouba Hills are part of the Golan whereas Lebanon has insisted that they belong to Lebanon, amid a dispute over the demarcation of the border in that area.
Separately, Aoun wondered whether the international community is seeking to turn the Syrian refugees into “hostages” in order to “use them as a tool of pressure against Syria and Lebanon.”
“We’re worried over the insistence to link the refugee return to the political solution and over the ‘voluntary return’ expression,” the president added.
He also emphasized that Lebanon “will not accept any form of naturalization” on its soil.

How is that so since back in 2002 while you were carrying the banner of Liberation you stated the Shebaa Farms are Not Lebanese!
كذبة مزارع شبعا، وأنا مسؤول عما أقول، لا يمكننا تعديل الخريطة على مزاجنا، مزارع شبعا ليست لبنانية، وحتى ولو كانت الأرض لبنانية فهي مضمومة سورياً منذ زمن ولبنان سكت عنها، والحكومة اللبنانية لم تذكر مرة أن لديها أرضاً محتلة خاضعة لتنفيذ القرار 242، على العكس قالت أنا لست معنية بالقرار 242، وليس لدي أرض محتلة، فلا يمكن أن تتراجع وتتبناها بعد تنفيذ القرار 425 وتقول أن لديها أرضاً محتلة. وعلى افتراض أن سوريا تريد إرجاع الأرض لنا فلتتفضل وتعطينا وثيقة وفقاً للشرائع الدولية على أن هذه الأرض لبنانية وتحدد على الخريطة رقعة الأرض التي هي لبنانية في مزارع شبعا، وعندها فلتترك لنا المقاومة شرف تحصيلها.

So, President Aoun, the solution is very simple. Send a message to the Prime Minister of Israel saying that the Prime Minister of Lebanon wishes to meet with him to bring about an agreement concerning the Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shouba Hills.
Oops, I forgot, firstly Lebanon and Syria have to decide between them as to which country these two areas belong to.
