Crime Uncovered in Saadiyat, Body of Dead Woman Found in Zgharta

An Internal Security Forces investigation uncovered on Wednesday the circumstances surrounding the death of a Syrian national in al-Saadiyat region, as a body of a female was found hanging in the northern Zgharta district.

“Howaida Hussein Salloum was found hanging with a cord on the balcony of her house in the Zgharta town of Meryata,” the state-run National News Agency said.

The NNA noted that security forces rushed to the scene and opened a probe in the incident.

Security forces were also able to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of a Syrian national in the Saadiyat area, which lies on the coast linking Beirut to the southern city of Sidon.

"Damour police department was able to uncover the details of a crime that resulted in the death of Mohannad A.,” the ISF said in a released statement, revealing that the criminal has been detained.

"Mohammed A., born in 1988 and also a Syrian, confessed to killing Mohannad A. last Sunday after a dispute erupted between the two over the former's expulsion from work,” the statement detailed.

“The victim was found dead in META GROUP company in Saadiyat and the killer revealed that he had beaten Mohannad A. with a heavy iron tool on his forehead then stabbed him with a screwdriver in the chest, which killed him on the spot,” according to the same source.

"The victim's burned body was discovered on Monday,” it remarked.

Meanwhile in the South, the bodies of two men were found in separate regions in Sidon.

"Tajeddine Rasheed, 74, was found dead near an army checkpoint in (the Palestinian refugee camp of) Ain al-Hilweh,” MTV reported.

The coroner's examination revealed that the man had died of a heart attack.

And in the Sharhabil region in eastern Sidon, the body of Palestinian national Ahmed Abou Leila was found on the sidewalk.

"Abou Leila had died of natural causes according to the coroner who inspected his body,” MTV said.

"Both bodies were handed over to their families based on the recommendation of the judicial authority.”
