All Syria Chemical Weapons Placed under Seal

International inspectors have placed Syria's entire declared stock of over 1,000 tonnes of chemical weapons and agents under tamper-proof seal, the world's chemical watchdog said Thursday.

"All stocks of chemical weapons and agents have been placed under seals that are impossible to break," Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) spokesman Christian Chartier told Agence France Presse, adding that the seals were "tamper proof".

"These are 1,000 tonnes of chemical agents (which can be used to make weapons) and 290 tonnes of chemical weapons," Chartier said.

OPCW and U.N. inspectors have until mid-2014 to destroy Syria's entire chemical arsenal and production facilities under the terms of a U.S.-Russian deal to head off military strikes on President Bashar Assad's regime.

"The weapons and agents remain at their respective sites, we're not yet at the stage of moving them," Chartier said.

Syria is cooperating with the disarmament operation and has already said it had approximately 1,290 tonnes of chemical weapons and agents as well as 1,230 unfilled chemical munitions, meaning shells, rockets or mortars.

Thumbs up to the OPCW. Hopefully, this criminal regime is no longer able to murder its population with chemical weapons.

Thumb mckinl 31 October 2013, 11:45

The OPCW was deliberately confined in its work by the US. UN Representative Carla Del Ponte pointed to the opposition for the Aleppo attacks. The OPCW Ghouta Report was a sham written by NATO and Zionist agent Sellstrom.

The fact of the matter is that they report only about the Assad regime chemical weapons yet refuse to properly investigate previous and ongoing chemical attacks by the terrorists. Chemical attacks are supposed to be a crime against humanity but apparently not if you have political cover.

Thumb mckinl 31 October 2013, 11:32

Yet little is mentioned about the fact that none of Assad's chemical arsenal was weaponized ...

And there seems to be no ongoing investigation into the previous chemical attacks as they were assuredly Terrorist attacks.

Less than a week ago terrorists used chemical weapons against Kurds near the Turkish border ... Where is the outcry over that !!!

Four Days Ago !

"The rebels used chemical weapons in north-eastern Syria near the border with Turkey on Tuesday, a Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen reported.

The toxic shell exploded near a Kurdish defense forces’ checkpoint close to the border with Turkey in the city of Ras al-Ayn al-Hasakah.

The attack was reported by Kurdish defense forces who are conducting military operations against the rebels in the region.

They are quoted as saying they saw toxic yellow smoke that followed the shell explosion, while some of them had symptoms of severe chemical intoxication accompanied by nausea."

and this is "one" of the resistance haha.
he sold him self for a long time ago like his father did, and this is what the "holy" resistance of lebanon is following and are willing to die for.
and for what ? just so the usa don't hit him haha.
he will sell hizbshaitan as soon as israel say they will take him out.

Missing lebanese4life 31 October 2013, 16:10

There is enough power in the region to suppress what Israel does. Israel now thinks twice before acting because there is a resistance in the region that can cause much harm to it. Remember how the Israeli army lost about 10 percent within 30 days of their so called Markava. Supposed to be the best military tank created.

Yeah right.

How can OPCW pretend they sealed all CW when they don't know how much Assad had at the begining ?

This is nothing but PR operation by the US for ASSAD :'he doesn't have CW anymore so now let him continue starve, bomb and kill the rest of his population...'

Missing lebanese4life 31 October 2013, 16:31

Its only a small part of his population that is starving and being murdered because they are under control of extremists who placed sharia law on them. Anyone who disagrees or doesn't follow their made up bull laws gets executed. Anyone who is Shia Alawia or Christian gets executed. The whole rebel force is made up of salafi wahabi extremists

1-alawites are not shias
2- wahabis does not exist
3- "jihadists" make up 10-% of the rebels according to different sources
4- minorities are living in rebels zones without being killed, actually some of them fight in the rebellion. But it's true that takfiris, some of them previously employed by assad, persecute minorities and Sunnis not thinkin like them.

1- I didn't say alawites are shias they were listed shia alawia or christian
2- Wahabis do exist from different sources
3- The jihadists did make up 10% outdated sources recently FSA joined nusra front al-
qeada affiliated and no longer follow orders of Syrian opposition political leaders
4-Minorities are being harmed Christian bishops kidnapped and various others executed which terrorists themselves videotaped

It is true the Assad family has committed war crimes in Lebanon, but its either have assad which can politically be challenged or rebel terrorists come into Lebanon and attack our people and army with car bombs which they are already doing but it will be on much larger scale. Arsal is a safe haven for el nusra front where explosives and weapons are used against our lebanese army

Missing lebanese4life 31 October 2013, 19:03

Its hard fighting a war with terrorists randomly bombing areas in Lebanon and randomly attacking the army. Assir voiced his support for the rebels and look what he did in sidon he attacked the army and Fadel shaker was videotaped proudly proving he killed Lebanese Soldiers
