The General Directorate of State Security arrested on Saturday a fraud ring in the eastern city of Zahle.

The ring is reportedly specialized in counterfeiting currency, passports and entrance and exit paper from and into Lebanon.

A Syrian national was kidnapped on Friday evening while he was en route to the Bekaa's city of Baalbek coming from Zahle.

"Four gunmen in a Black Cherokee kidnapped Syrian national Khalil Aslan Areej while he was on his way to Baalbek,” the state-run National News Agency reported.

The head of the “largest car robbery gangs” in the Bekaa was arrested on Wednesday at midnight, as security forces and army troops continue implementing a security plan in the region and the North.

"As part of the security plan implemented by Internal Security Forces in the Bekaa and after investigation and monitoring, the Bekaa Police Department managed to ambush and arrest the head of the largest car robbery gangs,” the ISF announced in a released communique.

Gunmen opened fire at security forces Friday evening in the Bekaa town of Brital after the army carried out raids in search for the abducted 10-year-old child Michel Ibrahim al-Saqr.

“A number of gunmen crossed an army checkpoint in Brital and opened fire at the troops, who responded in kind,” state-run National News Agency reported.

The 10-year-old son of a businessman was abducted at gunpoint on Friday in the eastern city of Zahle, the state-run National News Agency reported.

According to NNA, Michel al-Saqr was heading to school with the family's driver when four masked gunmen in a Grand Cherokee SUV kidnapped him.

The General Directorate of State Security raided on Wednesday a warehouse in Bar Elias area in Lebanon's eastern Bekaa valley and seized spoiled food, the state-run National News Agency reported.

According to the news agency, the son of the warehouse owner Omar H. was detained.

A Syrian national was kidnapped in the eastern Zahle district on Saturday noon, only to be released few hours later after he was physically attacked.

“Unknown assailants in a mini-bus with tinted windows kidnapped Fadi al-Jassem in Zahle,” the state-run National News Agency reported.

The anti-drug unit of judicial police has arrested a Lebanese man for smuggling around half a kilogram of drugs in his minivan in the eastern city of Zahle, the Internal Security Forces announced Monday.

A communique issued by the ISF General Command said the unit monitored the passenger van after receiving information that he was smuggling drugs from the Bekaa town al-Hamoudiyeh to Beirut.

Two Syrian children were killed and their father injured in a roof collapse in the eastern Bekaa Valley, the state-run National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

NNA said Jacqueline Riyad Mahmoudo, 6, and her three-year-old sister Lava died when part of the roof of their house collapsed in Hezzerta that lies near the city of Zahle.
