Leaders of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood exiled in Qatar will leave the Gulf country after it came under enormous pressure to cut support for the Islamist group, a Brotherhood official said.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani acknowledged Wednesday that the UAE has arrested seven Libyans, after reports that the Gulf state has detained 30.

"Only seven people" were being held in the United Arab Emirates, Thani told reporters in Abu Dhabi.

UAE Tries 15 Islamists for 'Syria Qaida, Rebel Links'

The trial began in the UAE on Monday of 15 Islamists charged with joining and financing Syria's al-Qaida franchise and a rebel group there, the official WAM news agency said.

Eleven of the defendants, whose nationalities were not disclosed, appeared at a first hearing before the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi, WAM said.

United Arab Emirates Backs World Fight on IS

The United Arab Emirates voiced readiness Wednesday to back world efforts to confront the threat from jihadists, amid calls by Western powers for an international fight against the Islamic State. 

The UAE affirms "its solidarity with regional and international efforts against terrorist threats... and its readiness to take needed measures to confront this phenomenon in line with U.N. Security Council Resolution 2170," its foreign ministry said.

Report: Al-Mashnouq a 'Guest of Honor' at GCC Ministers Meeting

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq has been invited to the Gulf Cooperation Council's interior ministers' meeting scheduled to be held in Doha next week, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Al-Mashnouq will be the “guest of honor” in the meeting that would also be attended by five cabinet ministers from the GCC countries, the daily said.

Reports: 30 Libyans Arrested in UAE

Pro-Islamist Libyan media on Monday reported that some 30 Libyans were arrested in the United Arab Emirates following air raids which U.S. officials said were carried out last month by the UAE against Islamist targets in Libya.

Media, including television channel An-Nabaa, said among those arrested were businessmen with long-standing ties to the UAE, including some from Misrata.
