Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea slammed on Thursday the new government, saying that it does not represent Lebanon and will set the country back to a time before the 2005 Cedar Revolution.

He said during a dinner for Lebanese expatriates in Abu Dhabi: “We will work with all possible democratic means to topple this cabinet.”

He told CNN Arabic that Syria and Hizbullah have an interest in fueling tensions in the region “because that will change the course of developments in Syria and Lebanon.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Sunday traveled to the United Arab Emirates upon an official invitation from Emirati officials, state-run National News Agency reported.

He said before reporters: “The new government should follow up on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s functioning and its abandonment is treason against the martyrs and all Lebanese.”

“They asked us to give this government a grace period and wait for the policy statement to be issued… but has anyone seen a cinchona tree turn into an apple tree?” Geagea wondered during the annual dinner of Free Lebanon radio on Monday.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed on Thursday that the opposition will adopt democratic measures in order to “get rid of this government and topple it as soon as possible.”

He told Voice of Lebanon radio: “This goal was set seeing as the new government belongs to Syria and Hizbullah … and it is seeking to isolate Lebanon on the Arab and international levels.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea called on Monday for the launch of a “serious investigation” into Friday’s clashes in Tripoli “instead of wasting time in laying blame on each other.”

He said before reporters that the final solution to this issue lies in making Tripoli a weapons-free city.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea criticized on Friday claims that the new government has garnered several seats for the country’s Christians, saying that the ministers will not serve their portfolios and sect, but only those who appointed them.

He asked before a visiting delegation: “How can the Christians benefit from confronting the decisions of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and the international and Arab communities?”

Youth and Sports Minister Faisal Karami on Thursday slammed Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, saying he is the “killer” of his uncle former Prime Minister Rashid Karami.

Geagea said during a press conference Wednesday that Shiite politics is dominating Premier Najib Miqati’s cabinet, while the Sunni majority is not included in the government and half of the country’s Christians are not represented.
