President Michel Suleiman stressed on Tuesday that there are no dangers in Lebanon that can prevent Arab nationals from visiting the country.

He said: “Lebanon is keen on the safety of the visiting nationals.”

Judge Saqr Saqr decided on Tuesday to release Shadi al-Mawlawi after over a week in custody.

He declared upon his release that he was “wrongfully arrested for aiding Syrian refugees in Lebanon.”

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour held talks on Tuesday with diplomats of three Gulf countries that have called on their citizens to leave Lebanon in his ongoing effort to persuade them to review their decisions.

The current security tension in Lebanon is provisional and does not require such decisions, Mansour reportedly told the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait.

Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri on Monday noted that the kingdom “is closely following the developments” in Lebanon, adding that Riyadh would only issue a travel warning should it feel that its citizens are in possible danger.

“Should we feel that our citizens are in danger, we will take the right decision, but right now we are closely following the developments,” Asiri told reporters following talks with Prime Minister Najib Miqati at the Grand Serail.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat noted on Monday that the swift investigation into the death of Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Wahed demonstrates the need to support the army.

He said in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine: “The army should be supported in order to avert sliding into strife.”

Kuwait advised its citizens on Monday to avoid travel to Lebanon and its nationals currently present in the country to leave due to the unstable security situation.

“The Kuwaiti authorities call on its citizens not to travel to Lebanon amid the tense security developments in the country,” the official KUNA news agency said.

Two NATO soldiers were killed in an attack in Afghanistan Sunday as alliance leaders gathered in Chicago for a summit dominated by plans to pull troops out of the Afghan war.

Two children also died and several civilians were wounded as a suicide bomber targeted a NATO convoy in Tirin Kot, capital of southern Uruzgan province, Afghan police said.

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stated that the situation in the northern city of Tripoli is improving “day after day”, questioning the motives of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar’s travel restrictions to Lebanon, reported the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat on Sunday.

He told the daily An Nahar: “The restrictions are a precautionary measure ahead of the touristic summer season.”

Prime Minister Najib Miqati urged on Saturday the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain to reconsider their travel warning to Lebanon.

The premier said "the procedures taken by some Gulf countries are not justified," urging "the three countries to reconsider the travel restriction advisory to Lebanon."

Qatar eyed Bulgaria investment opportunities on Thursday as the two countries signed a framework agreement at the start of a visit by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani to Bulgaria.

"I believe that there are viable opportunities to invest in Bulgaria," Sheikh Hamad told a press conference after signing an investment framework agreement with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov, adding that the government in Sofia "interacts with us seriously and responsibly."
