Bassil warns cabinet session to 'undermine balances, understandings'

Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil on Tuesday warned that a caretaker cabinet session scheduled for Wednesday will “violate the constitution and the Pact,” deepen the national rift and undermine balances and understandings.”

Environmental prosecutor charges Jisr and Arab over Costa Brava

Mount Lebanon Environmental Prosecutor Judge Fadi Malkoun has filed charges against the state-run Council for Development and Reconstruction and its chief Nabil al-Jisr as well as against the contractor Jihad al-Arab and his company, LBCI television reported on Monday.

Malkoun accused the aforementioned parties of “executing the Costa Brava landfill project without obtaining an environmental impact approval from the Environment Ministry,” LBCI said.

Raad: We want president who would not bow to foreign pressure

Parliamentary committees approve capital control law

The Joint Parliamentary Committees on Monday approved the capital control draft law and referred it to parliament for a final vote, Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab said.

Police question relatives of port blast victims

Thirteen relatives of the victims of the massive 2020 explosion at Beirut's port showed up on Monday to answer questions by police after they were accused of rioting and vandalism during protests over the stalled investigation into the blast.

On Tuesday, victims' relatives had thrown stones at the palace of justice in Beirut and stormed the outer gate of the building. Some of them were injured as they clashed with security forces.
