Ex-Premier Saad Hariri, who was hospitalized last week following a ski accident in the French Alps, was on Sunday recovering at his home in Paris after leaving hospital a day earlier.

Hariri “left this afternoon the American Hospital in Paris, after the surgery he underwent to treat fractures in his left leg resulting from a ski accident,” said a statement released by his press office on Saturday.

Red Diesel Scandal Probe Focuses on Authority that Stands Behind it

The investigation of the Central Inspection Board on an energy scandal has focused on the authority that gave the orders to the refinery in northern Lebanon to deliver huge amounts of red diesel hours before the end of a one-month government subsidy, An Nahar daily reported Sunday.

It quoted sources involved in the investigation as saying that the Board’s preliminary report will be handed over to Speaker Nabih Berri and the head of the parliamentary energy committee, MP Mohammed Qabbani, on Monday for action.

Iran has expressed readiness to provide Lebanon with 200-400 megawatts of electricity to resolve the country’s lingering power crisis, Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said in remarks published Sunday.

“Iran is ready to provide Lebanon with 200 to 400 MW which amount to 200 million kilowatt hours to 400 kilowatt hours,” Mansour told An Nahar after meeting with Iranian Ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi on Saturday.

Asarta: UNIFIL Deployment Cannot Last Forever, Permanent Ceasefire Needed

Outgoing United Nations Interim Force Commander Major General Alberto Asarta stated on Saturday that the security situation in southern Lebanon had improved greatly five years after the release of U.N. Security Council resolution 1701.

“More than five years after adoption of the resolution, conditions on the ground have significantly improved, the cessation of hostilities and respect for the Blue Line have been generally upheld by the parties (Lebanon and Israel),” Asarta said during a farewell transfer of power ceremony in the South.

Lebanon obtained conflicting reports that Imam Moussa al-Sadr was alive during the 2011 military operation in Libya, while others said that he was alive until 1994, reported As Safir newspaper on Saturday.
