Globes Leader 'American Hustle' Gets Oscar Boost

The Golden Globes are typically Hollywood's bawdiest awards show — "a wonderful mess," said co-host Tina Fey of this year's bash. But in the end, after all the boozy banter — some of it bleeped for broadcast — the 1970s corruption tale "American Hustle" got a very serious push toward Oscar glory, picking up three major awards.

Imagine going to a friend’s house for dinner, only to sit and watch in horror as your pal’s family begins to argue, fight, and air a lot of dirty laundry. “August: Osage County” kinda feels like that, except that the experience is made somewhat tolerable thanks to some incredible performances, with Meryl Streep in particular delivering another tour de force performance that is sure to earn her yet another Academy Award nomination. It’s a bumpy, weird, and often obnoxious ride, but if you’re looking for a great ensemble performance, you needn’t look much further (or just watch American Hustle).

The E! Entertainment network is apologizing to actor Michael J. Fox for an online graphic during its Golden Globes coverage that listed his Parkinson's Disease as a "fun fact."

The graphic was shown during E!'s live stream of red carpet coverage Sunday, although not on TV. As the actor was entering the Beverly Hills Hilton, the "fun fact" graphic noted Fox's diagnosis in 1991. Fox was nominated for best actor in a comedy for his new NBC show.

Sweden's Princess Madeleine to Give Birth in NYC

Sweden's Royal Palace says Princess Madeleine and her American husband, banker Christopher O'Neill, have decided that their first child should be born in New York City.

The palace said Saturday the couple had decided to do so after "careful consideration" and consulting with her parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. The baby is expected in late February.
