More than 120 Bangladeshi sportsmen including top internationals were jailed Sunday for their role in a bloody 2009 mutiny, a prosecutor said, part of the largest trial in the country's history.

Fifty-seven senior army officers were killed during an uprising that began when soldiers at the Bangladeshi Rifles (BDR) headquarters in the capital Dhaka went on a killing spree, later dumping bodies in sewers and shallow graves.

Lightning Strike on Bangladesh Mosque Leaves 13 Dead

At least 13 people were killed and 15 injured when lightning struck a makeshift mosque in a remote village in Bangladesh as locals were holding special Ramadan prayers, police said Saturday.

The Imam was among those killed when the powerful lightning bolt hit the flimsy tin and thatch building at Saraswatipur village in the northeast some 200 kilometers (125 miles) from the capital Dhaka late on Friday.

Bangladesh Arrests Four over Saudi Diplomat Death

Police in Bangladesh said Wednesday they had arrested four people over the mugging death of a Saudi Arabian diplomat in the capital in March.

Khalaf al-Ali, 45, the head of Saudi citizen affairs at the embassy in Dhaka, was shot while taking a late-night walk near his home in the city's Gulshan area. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died three hours later.

More than 55 people have been killed in landslides in southeast Bangladesh after three days of rains that triggered flash floods and severed transport links, officials said Wednesday.
