France says Israel-Hamas deal must start 'without further delay'

France on Thursday said an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the release of 50 hostages in exchange for a humanitarian truce should go ahead "without further delay".

Paris is also urging "the immediate release of all hostages", said Anne-Claire Legendre, spokeswoman for the French foreign ministry. "We call for the terms of this agreement to be fully respected," she added.

Abdollahian meets Nasrallah hours before Gaza truce

Hezbollah said Thursday that five of its fighters, including the son of a senior lawmaker, had been killed, amid skirmishes at the Israel-Lebanon border since the Israel-Hamas war began.

US claims Wagner plans to offer air defense to Hezbollah or Iran

The White House said Tuesday that Russia's Wagner mercenary group plans to provide an air defense system to Lebanon's Hezbollah militants or to the regime in Tehran, as part of an "unprecedented defense cooperation" between the two U.S. adversaries.

"Our information... indicates that Wagner, at the direction of the Russian government, was preparing to provide an air defense capability to either Hezbollah or Iran," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

US 'concerned' over Israeli attacks that killed Lebanese civilians and journalists

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has said that Washington is "concerned by the reports that civilians including two journalists were killed in Lebanon" on Tuesday.
