Army: Two Arrested in Connection to Firing Rockets from South to Israel
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe army announced on Saturday that it had arrested two Lebanese in connection to the firing of rockets from southern Lebanon towards Israel.
The Army Command said in a statement that Youssef Mohammed al-Fleity and Omar Abdul Mawla al-Atrash confessed to transporting rockets from the Gaza region in the Bekaa to individuals in the southern region of Tyre.
The rockets were since fired from al-Hawsh-Tyre region towards Israel on August 22.
Four Katyusha rockets were fired in the incident and Israel's Channel 2 said a rocket landed in the town of Nahariya.
The Israeli army said its Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted one of "three or four rockets fired from south of Tyre."
The other rockets did not land in Israeli territory.
The attack prompted Israeli warplanes the next day to strike a Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) base in a valley in Naameh that lies 16 kilometers south of Beirut. The strike did not cause any casualties or material damage.
The PFLP-GC denied it was involved in the rocket attack.
On Friday, State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr ordered the arrest of two suspects linked to the incident.
these are small players, like kids playing with fireworks.... the real deal are the 'grown-ups' with 4O OOO+ rockets that who terrorize Lebanon, Israel, and Palestine... can the LAF do something about them?
They could if they were given a free hand to operate, but the warring politicians stop them carry out their task, that of defending the security and integrity of the Lebanese Republic.
That's why Israel should spare the LAF next time they strike. They should only target the terrorists' nests. They should also spare our infrastructure. We're hostage of our politicians and armed terrorists.
benzona, too bad the nests are embedded in populated civilian areas.
Honestly though, what can Israel do that doesn't involve either massacring the Lebanese people and leveling Beirut or negotiate with the Palestinians? Israel should stop wasting time and get through the negotiations already. They'll lose power since Palestinians would be content with their acknowledgement as having a country/will leave Lebanon/there'd be no need for a resistance/etc.
Well endless, you speak the truth, I don't know why you get so many red thumbs.... Probably because of the label you earned. Anyhows, it's about time Israel and Palestinians reach an agreement.... But everyone seems to be so narrow minded.its always the same excuses that come in the way of achieving peace.... security for Israel, the right the return for the Palestinians etc... They've been on stand-by for deceniums! Sure Isaac Rabin and Arafat almost did it, it's not a reason to live of regrets and not move forward with the process.the people of israel should deal with their politicians and pressure them just like we need to do with our fake resistance and our government(s). There are sooo many innovative possibilities to explore..
Bil zabet. They are totally corrupt.... They think they are fine politicians yet most don't work in the interests of the country but for their faction or sect. There's little political rivalry hence it's unhealthy. Competition is good, but in Lebanon whenever they compete, it's only to find out who's the most miserable. It's very upsetting and bad for the morale.... The entire generation needs to be renewed. It's probably more important to get rid of the old crocodiles than reforming the whole system... We need to empower the army....
Its not logic that a country calling itself and independent one will allow a terrorist group to keep an arsenal of weapons ammunition, missiles and rockets more than its own army has.
All heading South with an excuse that they defend Lebanon from its Southern neighbor.
Israel has no expansion plans nor plans to occupy Lebanon.
If there are any territorial disputes it can be solved sitting to the negotiation table.
Differences are not that big which can't overcome.
This will empty the bag of excuses of the terrorist gang, which allowing its existence jeopardize Lebanon more than Israel.
For once be brave and avoid the destruction of your beloved country.
Yes your are correct, $$$ is a key factor sometimes, and lets say most of the time, but not all of the time. I wouldn't give up.
