Hizbullah International Relations Official Meets Belgian Ambassador
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةHizbullah international relations official Ammar Moussawi held talks on Wednesday with Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon Colette Taquet in the first meeting of its kind between party and European officials after the European Union blacklisted Hizbullah as a terrorist organization.
Hizbullah said in a statement that the talks addressed the Syrian crisis and its impact on neighboring countries, especially Lebanon.
The two sides agreed that the conflict in Syria can only be resolved through dialogue between the different sides involved.
Discussions also turned to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and their burden on the country.
Moussawi and Taquet stressed the need to exert greater efforts in order to tackle this issue.
The meeting did not address the EU's decision against Hizbullah.
On Monday, 28 EU foreign ministers unanimously voted to blacklist Hizbullah's military wing.
To get the required agreement of all 28 EU member states, ministers had to overcome reservations in some members that the move would further destabilize Lebanon, where Hizbullah plays a key role in politics.
Accordingly, EU political and economic ties with Lebanon will be fully maintained in a delicate balancing act.
That's democracy for you. Letting the majority have a say is always a mistake, don't you think?
The Bulgarian foreign minister says there is insufficient evidence to blame Hezbullah for the bus bombing.

Tsvetanov stated that the two suspects had Canadian and Australian passports and lived in Lebanon.According to the Europol, forensic evidence and intelligence sources all point to Hezbollah's involvement in the blast. On 5 June 2013, new Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Minister Kristian Vigenin stated that: "There is no conclusive evidence for the implication of Hezbollah in the July 2012 bombing in Burgas. The authorities continue to gather evidence." However, two weeks later a Bulgarian representative to the European Union revealed that investigators discovered new evidence that implicates Hezbollah operatives were connected to the terrorist attacks.1/2
