Report: Suleiman to Go On with Dialogue Initiative Despite Obstacles
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPresident Michel Suleiman is seeking to resume the national dialogue between the rival parties despite the obstacles that will confront him, media reports said on Thursday.
According to al-Joumhouria newspaper, Suleiman's dialogue invitation came in light of an international desire to halt any attempt to destabilize the situation in the country.
On Tuesday, Suleiman said that he hopes he will be able to call for a national dialogue session “soon” to discuss the defense strategy and find solutions to the current political crises.
He reiterated at an Iftar banquet in Baabda Palace calls for abiding by the Baabda Declaration, urging factions to commit to it “in words and in deeds.”
The president, according to al-Joumhouria, also considers that the March 14 and 8 coalitions are in desperate need to bridge the gap between them.
An informed source told the newspaper that Suleiman realizes that he will be confronted by many obstacles, however he will not back down on his attempt to end the standstill situation.
Sources close to the president told An Nahar newspaper that Suleiman is seeking to resume the national dialogue after the formation of the new cabinet-led by Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam.
The Baabda Declaration was unanimously adopted during a national dialogue session in June 2012. It calls for Lebanon to disassociate itself from regional crises, most notably the one in Syria.
As of late, "We", the lebanese people started to hear "voices" from "some" quarters requesting "there shall be no army in Lebanon except the army of Hussain". Upon further reflection, I started to understand the "logical" and "nationalistic" reasons behind it. If we only have the army of "Hussain", the treasury need not spend billions on training and equipping the LAF as Iran will gladly equip the army of "Hussain" with state-of-the art weapons and "ayoub" drones. Additionally, we need more police internally to write traffic tickets and "catch" smokers at the airport and in "night" spots across the country who carelessly are causing damage to the environment and to the health of others. I know some but not all of you might disagree with me, but it is food for thought:)
God bless our great once-in-a-lifetime good-for-nothing corrupt president-by-parachute and official guardian of the Amchit Basketball Crybabies. Keep dem initiatives coming and continue the Herculean task of removing the zeer from the beer. At least these might give him some time off his nikeyet me2erfeh.
