Charbel Vows Not to Allow Politicization of ISF
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةInterior Minister Marwan Charbel vowed on Sunday to prevent the Internal Security Forces from entering the political game and said he would hold them accountable if they made mistakes.
In remarks to Voice of Lebanon radio station (100.5), Charbel said he won’t allow any side to shove politics into security agencies because politics had ruined them.
The minister stressed that he would defend the ISF whether it was mistaken or not but would hold it accountable away from the media spotlight.
Turning to the situation in Tripoli following deadly incidents between Alawites and Sunnis, Charbel confirmed media reports that the army and security forces would remain on alert for a period of six months.
The army will carry out raids to find the suspects involved in the clashes, he said.
“We will comply with the demands of Tripoli residents,” who have called for making their city free from arms, the minister added.
