The U.N. Secretariat denied reports that it has information about the Special Tribunal for Lebanon or the date of the indictment’s release, An Nahar reported on Saturday.

The U.N. Secretariat spokesman said: “We have received reports published in Lebanese media regarding the release of the indictment. We confirm that the STL is an independent body and that the secretariat has no information about the indictment or its date of release.”

U.N. Chief Ban Ki-moon “continues to support the STL and the search for the truth to end impunity” in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s assassination case, he added.

An Nahar reported on Friday that pre-trial Judge Daniel Fransen would issue the indictment “within weeks and most probably at the beginning of next month.”

The newspaper quoted a high-ranking official in New York as saying that “the indictment is expected to name low-ranking Hizbullah officials in addition to other people after STL Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare added new names to the amended amendment that he filed to Fransen for approval last month.”

Those who you would think should care do not care. Really. There is only one killer, and that is the US-Israeli partnership-in-crime. Those in Lebanon who continue to support this joke are dumb or are in on the game. The rest of the world does not even dare hint to the real killers, and everybody knows why. So enough with this joke and spare the decent Lebanese false and failed hopes.
