President Michel Suleiman expressed on Thursday his sympathy with “all those who lost a loved one.

He made a special mention to the widows of slain officer Pierre Bashaalani and Ibrahim Zahraman through a tweet on the occasion of Valentine's Day.

“Let us, in the name of the two martyrs, place a red rose on the nearest national monument or grave of a martyr,” he added via Twitter, while including a photograph of him and First Lady Wafaa.

Bashaalani and Zahraman were killed on February 1 as an army patrol was seeking to arrest a wanted suspect in the Bekaa town of Arsal.

The suspect was killed in the ensuing clash as the army was ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
