Head of Parliament’s Public Health, Labor and Social Affairs committee MP Atef Majdalani revealed on Monday that forged medications were released again in the market after the recent scandal that hit the health sector in Lebanon.

“Judicial sources confirmed that the forged medications are in containers at the Health Ministry and were released into the market,” Majdalani told Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5).

According to the lawmaker, the laboratories that worked on analyzing the forged medications issued false results to deceive people.

He pointed out that the forged medications were sent to laboratories other than Beirut Arab University lab, which was involved in the latest medications scandal.

Majdalani lashed out at authorities for not closing the work of the involved companies.

“These medications should be immediately destroyed,” the MP added.

The General Prosecution filed a lawsuit in December against Abdul Latif Fneish, brother of Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammad Fneish for being involved in forging certificates of laboratory tests, along with another suspect identified as Fouad Ahmed Wehbeh.

Following the scandal Minister Fneish announced that he would not protect anyone found guilty in this case.

Reports said the forgery discovered at the Beirut Arab University’s laboratory where medication imports are tested and has been lingering on for about ten months before it was exposed.
