Blast Kills Minieh Arms Maker Working on Machinegun for Syria Rebels

A home-made weapons manufacturer in north Lebanon was killed in a blast in his workshop on Sunday while trying to make a machinegun for Syrian rebels, a Lebanese security official told Agence France Presse.
Marwan al-Qassab was working on a DShK heavy machinegun to be smuggled into Syria to support the insurgents when a blast rocked his workshop, the official said on condition of anonymity.
"Marwan al-Qassab had a small, illicit weapons factory in the town of Minieh," 10 kilometers (six miles) north of the coastal city of Tripoli, he added.
"Members of the security forces rushed to the scene, and found his body shredded by the blast."
North Lebanon is home to many sympathizers -- most of them Sunni Muslim -- of the revolt against Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Lebanon is sharply divided into pro and anti-Damascus camps.

It is unlikely that Syria be partitioned as communities are intermingled and that there is a sense of a nation that has been actually built under the Assad's.

Thephoenix1, you sound like a little girl living in la la land. When did lebanese ever love eachother. When? It has never happened and there has never been one lebanese identity. Ever since independence, lebanese have been divided in several diffirent identities, before there was a hafez el assad (may he burn in hell). Sorry to disappoint you, but when i compare a shite, maronite, druze, orthodox and a muslim (all in theory lebanese) i see five diffirent people, not just religiously, but in identity, culture, mentality etc. It has always been like this as lebanese are from diffirent ethnic origins. By thinking all your problems will go away and then you will all hold hands and sing as soon as assad falls, your only deluding yourself and belittling your own people. How stupid must you be if one man alone can cause you all this mess and your so called love for eachother can only exist when this man is gone? Wake up, its you who are the problem.

And yes, when ASSad falls you can take your FSA from here as we dont want another "PLO" scenario in Lebanon, then the lebanese people will decide if they want to live together or not!!!

The solution of Shebaa is in the hand of the Syrians who do not want to give the required documents to the UN so that this episode never ends justifying HA weapons.
The presence of the palestinians in Lebanon cannot be solved by HA arms. HA arms are there only to keep the influence of Syria and Iran in LEbanon.

Just to stay on the subject, mughniyeh has been killed by a zionist plot. The gentleman in the north killed himself at home,trying to make bombs, maybe for money. To me is quite impossible to kill oneself with a machine gun which such a long barrel, unless the bullet ricocheted back on him (very unlikely, with such a high calibre).. he was probably preparing an explosive device in the same room, or storing dynamite. but as usual, the "security source" said that he was repairing a machine gun, because it was politically safer. They are not telling all the truth.
