Fabius Meets Hariri: France Concerned with Protecting Lebanon from Syria Crisis Threats
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFormer prime minister Saad Hariri on Tuesday held talks in Paris with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, during which the French official stressed the importance of sparing Lebanon the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.
The meeting tackled the situations in Lebanon, the bilateral ties between the two countries and the latest developments in the region, according to a statement issued by Hariri’s press office.
French foreign ministry spokesman Philippe Lalliot said “France, especially minister Fabius, have very close contacts with a number of Lebanese figures, among them ex-PM Saad Hariri.”
“France is a friend of Lebanon and is keen on its independence, security and stability,” he added.
“Talks between ex-PM Hariri and minister Fabius tackled the political situation in Lebanon, while the other topic that was the focus of discussions was the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the neighboring countries, especially Lebanon,” said Lalliot.
The spokesman stressed that “France is concerned with protecting Lebanon which should keep away from this crisis in Syria and its threats.”
