Geagea Accuses Hizbullah of Abductions, Calls For a State of Emergency

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea held Hizbullah on Saturday responsible for the kidnappings fanning out in Lebanon, and urged President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Najib Miqati to declare a state of emergency “otherwise they would be contributing to the demise of the state.”

“Nasrallah described the situation as out of control, and I consider his statement unacceptable,” said Geagea in comments to Free Lebanon radio.

On Friday, Hizbullah Chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Quds Day that “what happened in the past two days was out of Hizbullah and AMAL’s control.”

The abductions began on Wednesday when al-Meqdad clan announced that it will be carrying out such operations in retaliation to the Free Syrian Army’s alleged kidnapping of Hassan al-Meqdad on Sunday.

The clan’s military wing declared that it had abducted over 20 Syrians, and two Turkish nationals.

It has since announced a halt to its military operations throughout Lebanon.

“I had some serious doubts that Hizbullah could be involved in the latest incidents, but after hearing Nasrallah’s speech those doubts melted down. He should have saved his efforts to market a made-up theory that was thwarted in light of the facts on the ground,” Geagea said.

He pointed out that the members of al-Meqdad clan who are continuously making TV appearances are also Hizbullah members.

Geagea denounced the way Nasrallah tried to pull Hizbullah out of its involvement in the latest incidents, assuring that the state is capable of controlling the situation if it took the initiative to do so.

“The state can control the situation if it takes measures to do so, but it is a pity if the government represented by Hizbullah is the instigator behind those events,” the LF chief noted.

He stressed that Hizbullah is acting just like the Syrian regime did when it resided in Lebanon for 35 years “it creates a dilemma and calls for a solution when it actually holds the key in its own hands.”

On the measures required in light of the latest abductions, Geagea said: “Hizbullah is responsible for the abductions even if it is trying to use al-Meqdad clan as a facade. Hizbullah has a new look now.”

He also held the state responsible for the incidents.

Geagea urged Suleiman and Miqati to declare a state of emergency “as soon as possible” and “take the necessary measures otherwise they will be unintentionally contributing in the demise of the state.”

well said geagea
no matter what people say about this man's past, for the past decade, he has been as straight as an arrow..never deviated from his principles..and in Lebanon, this is a rare characteristic for a politician to have and hold onto.

It is so refreshing to hear the truth spoken. Geagea tells it like it is and Syria and the Hezz can't stand it. How depressing to hear Nassy speak with venom and lies. Everyone knows now the Hezz and Syria were behind all the assassinations, abductions, etc in the country.

Sorry but the last one to speak is geagea, he is as much a thug as the armed me2ded clan. He has done such things in the past. Sure he isent doing it now, but when one has such a track record its best not to point fingers because then people will just say "look whos talking" and the real plight which is that of the innocent people kidnapped gets put aside. If he must speak then he should open with "as someone who used to get involved in such terrorism, i am advising you to stop because its harmful" rather than preach chastity when everyone knows he wasent chaste for much of his life. No offence to anyone.

Well done Mr Geagea, at least he has the courage to tell the truth. Hizbullah is a danger to society and to the country's stability, the same way their mentors in Iran are a threat to the region's stability.

How many would sign a petition asking for banning all the warlords from appearing in the media?

An utopia...

A utopia until it becomes reality... In 2004 a Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon was utopia... So was the Israeli withdrawal in 1999...

They are siters, indeed. Don't you love your moslem siters? I know I do even though I have no clue what to do with them, or without them for that matter. Long live moslem siters. Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.

The murderer of Christians, Muslims and Children Speaks.

The person who sold drugs, death and dumped toxic waste in Lebanon so that cancer rates are high among the population speaks.

The person who bombed Baabda, the Presidential Palace to help the Syrians invade the last free areas of Lebanon on October 13 1990 speaks.

This is why I have lost faith in Lebanon, because someone like him is still alive or not in jail.

We all remember his monthly dinners with Syrian rulers of lebanon at the time Ghazi Kanaan and Abdel Hallim Khadam (who are anti Syrian regime now).

TFEH!

When the Doc Moutahwej predicts something, we know that he is saying... uh... umm... duh... oh... another stupidity of global proportions. According the Doc Moutahwej, the Syrian regime MIGHT collapse in 2012, but also again in 2013 and then in 2014 yet then again in 2015.... alla y3ayeshkon ya 3anater al Moutahwej

state of emergency should be declared.

Default-user-icon JC Williams (Guest) 19 August 2012, 17:44

Sectarian blowhard throwing gasoline on a little fire. Who was responsible for the abductions in Syria? In terms of causation that is what started the tit-for-tat. Baldy GaGa is not concerned with truth or logic. In the future Lebanon is going to have to marginalize all the mini-'warlords' who need instability to justify their positions. When the Civil War comes GaGa will hole up somewhere like a rat and let someone else do the fighting and dying. Giving his rhetoric he should be out their with a Kalashnikov,an RPG and EID too.Kill Baldy,Kill!.
