Damascus Says U.S. Encouraging Massacres in Syria

Syria on Tuesday accused Washington of encouraging more massacres in the strife-torn country and of meddling in its internal affairs.
"The U.S. administration is pushing forth with its flagrant interference in Syria's internal affairs and its backing of armed terrorist groups," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
"U.S. statements distort the truth and what is happening on the ground while encouraging armed terrorist groups to carry out more massacres... not only in Al-Haffe but throughout the country," it added.
The Syrian regime does not recognize the 15-month popular uprising, and labels armed rebels and protesters alike as "terrorists" working to destabilize the country.
The foreign ministry said that U.S. officials had made "exacerbating statements" against Damascus in parallel with "the escalation of violence by terrorists on the ground".
The Americans "turn a blind eye to the perpetrators of brutal acts" and "engage in a media hoax, siding with armed men... who commit murders and kidnappings and who vandalize public and private property," the statement said.
It added "the Syrian government reaffirms its adherence" to U.N.-Arab envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan and "will not allow armed groups and their supporters to attack or threaten the U.N. observers or prevent them from completing their task."

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany's largest daily newspaper, says insurgents staged the big massacre last month which led to several NATO powers withdrawing their senior diplomats from Syria.

The Syrian Barbarians who have been killing Sunnis in Syria and everybody else in Lebanon for the last 40 years are talking in disgust about "terrorists" when in reality they have been the definition of terrorism and thuggry in the region. It is typical for a bully to be one sided and wearing blinders. The Alawites are digging themselves a deep hole. Or they know the outcome is Religious States throughout the region and they are starting their ethnic cleansing for that purpose or they hope they can endure for ever killing Sunnites at will with no consequences. This definitely is a Russian roulette game. It will blow out in the ugly face of Bashar and we will see him murdered in the gutter like Kadafi.

I love that statment cause it is exactly what the syrians did to lebanon and this so called FSA were part of the syrian army then so they are all scums.Long Live The Syrian Civil War.

You shouldn't say such things. The people that suffer the most are the innocent civilians. Not the ones carrying rifle guns or hiding in BMPs or helicopters. The civilians didn't attack or kill the Lebanese... Anyway. If the FSA was behind the massacres, why doesn't the Syrian government allow the UN to go to el Haffe? Because Maher's men need to burn the bodies first.

I agree with you. I still give the regime the benefit of doubt sometimes. While I know very well what they are capable of doing. But letting the UN in the country, and starting to commit horrible massacres, doesn't add up. Let us say UN observers went in and they were killed, who will be accused first, the regime or the rebels. Anyway as you said the innocent civilians always pay the price.
