Suleiman: Lebanon Keen on Safety of Visiting Arab Nationals

President Michel Suleiman stressed on Tuesday that there are no dangers in Lebanon that can prevent Arab nationals from visiting the country.

He said: “Lebanon is keen on the safety of the visiting nationals.”

The president also highlighted the ties of friendship between the Lebanese and Arab people.

Suleiman made his remarks after holding talks with Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri and in light of recent travel restrictions imposed by Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE urging their nationals against heading to Lebanon.

Addressing the recent unrest in Lebanon, the president called on all powers to “derive lessons from regional developments in a manner that would preserve civil peace.”

“The demands for democracy being made by the people in the region exist in Lebanon and they have been provided by the Taif Accord,” he added.

Suleiman had also held talks with Internal Security Forces chief Ashraf Rifi, ISF Intelligence Bureau head Wissam al-Hassan, and later Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi.
