Gadhafi Threatens to 'Stop Support for Anti-Terror War'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةLibyan embattled leader Moammar Gadhafi threatened Europe on Friday with the withdrawal of Libyan support for the international war on terror and to prevent illegal migration, the official Jana news agency reported.
If "Europe does not support, and ignores, the active role of Libya in the fight against migration and as guarantor of stability in North Africa and all of Africa, Libya will be obliged ... to withdraw its efforts in the battle against terrorism and completely change its stance toward al-Qaida," said a message Jana reported was signed by Gadhafi.
Gadhafi, who is battling a nearly four-week-old rebellion to unseat him, has repeatedly accused al-Qaida of being behind it, and has said Libya is capable of beating the terrorists who "want to transform it into Somalia."
Tripoli will also cease its "support against clandestine migration in which millions of blacks flow into Europe."
Libya has increasingly become a key transit country for illegal migrants headed for Europe from North and sub-Saharan Africa.
The message was addressed to leaders of European Union countries who are meeting in Brussels on Friday to consider what measures to take to up the pressure on Gadhafi to step down.
