Pro-Syrian Lebanese parties and Palestinian factions are organizing a rally in areas bordering Israel on Earth Day in Lebanon on March 30, al-Liwaa daily reported Friday.

The newspaper said the Baath party and the Syrian Social National Party, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command, Fatah al-Intifada and other factions are coordinating to mark Earth Day.

Al-Liwaa quoted an informed source as saying that the Lebanese authorities were coordinating with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon to take the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of the protestors and prevent a repeat of the Israeli attack on demonstrators marking the 1948 "nakba," Arabic for catastrophe in May last year.

Ten protesters were killed and 112 others wounded when a crowd of thousands of Palestinian refugees came under fire from Israeli troops near the Lebanese border town of Maroun al-Ras during the rally.

An Iranian and Syrian complot to distract attention from the killing of people in Syria.

Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Syria and Jordan should camp at the Israeli border permanently and hold protests everyday until they are allowed to go back home; otherwise they should breach the fence and march home by the tens of thousands. Israel is a colonial-settler state and it must be brought back to its senses. The world has done nothing to remedy the plight of Palestine; it's time the people of Palestine do that themselves.
