The Tampa military meeting between Lebanon and Israel will take place on October 20 and 22 but there are no high expectations regarding the results, a Lebanese source said on Tuesday.

“Israel is not cooperating with the verification mechanism, which includes the United States,” the source told Al-Arabiya’s Al-Hadath channel, noting that “Israel wants a direct operations room with the Lebanese Army to verify the pilot zones.”

“Washington understands Beirut’s concerns regarding Tel Aviv’s demands,” the source added.

Separately, the source said “entry points for Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel into Lebanon have been completely closed.”

As for the issue of the recent explosive busts in the country, the source revealed that “the explosives are hidden in warehouses in the Bekaa region before being transported into the Lebanese interior.”

“There is cooperation between the Lebanese and Syrian sides to curb smuggling operations,” the source added.

Moreover, the source said that the Lebanese Army will take over all UNIFIL posts outside the areas occupied by Israel when the mandate of the U.N. force expires.

Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath (widely known simply as Al Hadath) is a Saudi-owned, free-to-air Arabic satellite news channel. Al-Aribiya noted that Lebanon has agreed not to wear bullet-proof vests and not to taunt IDF on their funny-looking hats. In exchange, Lebanon has agreed not to wear bullet-proof vests and to not taunt IDF/police on their cute berets.

Surely if one side wants to establish a direct continuous connection with the other side it is not to play sheshbesh. Senior military officers meeting face to face on an almost daily level will bring about an agreement because they are the ones who understand everything concerning military matters, whereas the Ambassadors to the US don't know the minute details.
