Aoun says Lebanese must draw strength from one another, not from abroad

President Joseph Aoun said Tuesday that the time has come for all Lebanese to realize that “our homeland cannot be built by a single group, sect, or party.”

“It is our destiny to live together; hatred does not build a nation, and division serves only those who wish for Lebanon to remain weak. Dialogue, on the other hand, is what builds trust among the people of the same nation,” Aoun added.

He emphasized the necessity of “fortifying national unity to confront regional and global challenges -- thereby mitigating their impact -- and ensuring that settlements are not reached at Lebanon's expense.”

“With its inherent potential and assets, Lebanon is capable of rising again once its people decide to draw strength from one another rather than from abroad, to speak a unified language -- the language of Lebanon -- and to place the national interest above all else. Let us put an end to seeking strength from abroad against one another at home -- a practice that serves Lebanon’s enemies -- and instead draw strength from each other to face the outside world,” the president urged.
