Fayyad: We won't give Americans, Israelis an opportunity for domestic strife

MP Ali Fayyad, a member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc, on Monday pointed out that "it is clear the Americans are pressuring the Lebanese authorities to tighten the noose around Hezbollah and its institutions, even to the point of confrontation.”

“Dragging the country into internal conflicts and clashes, resembling a civil war, means nothing to them," Fayyad noted.

"We in Hezbollah are well aware of these efforts and understand their background and dimensions. We will not give the Americans or the Israelis an opportunity for domestic strife, whatever their justifications may be," the MP said.

He emphasized that "internal conflict between the resistance and the army, or civil strife among the various segments of the Lebanese people, would constitute the best-case scenario for the Israelis and the worst for the Lebanese."

Fayyad emphasized that "the government's approach and its negotiations path have hit a wall and reached a dead end.”

“All concessions have been in vain, and the Lebanese have gained nothing; on the contrary, they have paid a heavy price in losses," the lawmaker noted.

He asserted that "the Americans are not trustworthy,” charging that “all they do is cover for the Israelis and justify their practices, violations and hostile acts of bulldozing, destruction and killing, while the people of the South suffer displacement, aggression and the erasure of their villages.”

"For all these reasons, authorities must abandon their stubbornness and denial, acknowledge their failures and shortcomings to the Lebanese people, and begin to correct their practices and revise their positions," Fayyad added.

He clarified that "authorities have several options at their disposal, and they must act upon them in response to Israel's non-compliance and continued aggression.”

“These options include suspending negotiations and declaring the framework agreement worthless, addressing the issue of the Iranian ambassador and planes, and reversing their scandalous decisions against the resistance. This is necessary to pave the way for a unified Lebanese stance, which must be objective and realistic, and to work towards restoring balance to authorities' domestic policies. The goal is to ease the internal political climate and focus on confronting the aggression," Fayyad explained.
