Report: US determined to support Lebanese state and army
The prevailing direction in the White House is to provide the Lebanese president and government with what is necessary to solidify the framework agreement and establish a state capable of taking initiatives free from "the interference of Hezbollah or the axis it is aligned with," a U.S. diplomatic source said.
The source told al-Liwaa newspaper that the U.S. administration views the Lebanese Army as "the cornerstone of any approach aimed at consolidating stability and strengthening state authority."

The big news about Trump is about the White House Correspondent's dinner last night in Washington, DC. I watched the opening of the four-hour (!) YouTube video record and it immediately became clear that everybody in the room, including the guy doing a mentalist routine (they usually have a comedy routine (!)), was scared out of their minds. I'll admit that I'm scared out of my mind, too: Trump has gone crazy with these new tariffs on top of all this bad economic news (RT had one headline about them saying they were "bewildering"). He was there in the room with all these "journalists" who were trying very hard to pretend he was acting normally, since that is the editorial line their employers are sticking to. It was truly an insane display; which explains how people go crazy: they're afraid to go forward and ashamed to go back, and "pop, goes the weasel". The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw. With everybody dressed elegantly and smiling widely.
