Berri calls for compelling Israel to implement 2024 agreement
Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday reaffirmed to visiting U.N. chief Antonio Guterres Lebanon's commitment to U.N. Resolution 1701, stressing that "there is no alternative to the UNIFIL force for implementing it in ccordination with the Lebanese Army."
Berri also called for compeling Israel to halt its current aggression and implement the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
Israeli agression? Who exactly started the latest round of firing missiles? It wasn't Israel.
Following the November 27, 2024 ceasefire, Israel has been accused of violating the agreement thousands of times, with reports indicating over 10,000 air and ground violations by early 2025. These actions, including, airstrikes, drone activity, and continued ground presence in southern Lebanon, have resulted in numerous civilian casualties and the destruction of infrastructure.
