An expanded extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of the Druze Religious Council was held Thursday at the Druze Community Center in Beirut, at the invitation of Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Akl Sami Abi al-Muna, and in the presence of former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat, along with political, social, and religious figures.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in the war waged by Israel against Lebanon in light of the current regional circumstances.

During the meeting, Jumblat stated: "If the confrontations continue, we may reach a third world war, which is a war of influence and interests. We have no influence on the course of events except through national unity, solidarity, patience, and continuous dialogue."

He added: "There is no refuge for all Lebanese except Greater Lebanon, which was established during the French Mandate. Despite the international balance of power, we thank French President Emmanuel Macron for his rejection and condemnation of the aggression."

Jumblat continued: "No to the war of others on our land. The people of the South, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and all Lebanese are paying the price for decisions emanating from Iran."

He added that changing the Taif Agreement would be a crime, saying: "We are committed to it and are looking into how to complete it, as I heard from Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam."

The decisions are not only from Iran, but have been and are being made in Lebanon. Hezbollah decides it is on a war footing. Hezbollah decides when, where, and with which military equipment it will attack the foreign country to our South. The responsibility rests in Lebanon ... ... no one but people in Lebanon are forcing Hezbollah to take Lebanon to a war it will certainly suffer immensely from.

Arrest Raad. Arrest Qassem. Put an end to this charade and then we can build a peaceful Greater Lebanon if the Druze wish it.
