Aoun to hold meetings in Lebanon over latest Israeli escalation

W460

The Israeli attack that targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs for the first time since the latest war will be discussed in meetings that President Joseph Aoun is expected to hold following his return from France on Friday evening, informed sources said.

“The attack that took place was a message to the Lebanese state regarding the file of Hezbollah’s weapons and the dismantling of its military infrastructure and facilities is a responsibility that falls on the shoulders of security authorities and agencies, especially the Lebanese Army,” the sources told al-Liwaa newspaper in remarks published Saturday.

The sources also did not rule out that Aoun might convene Cabinet or the Higher Defense Council to discuss the developments.

Now comes the hard part ... sovereignty requires self-determination which is enabled by control over the whole ... We know we have to reestablish border to the sea control over all of Lebanon .. and we know that the government cannot do that in the name of all Lebanese citizens without it being the one force possessing military weapons. We tried the other way and it failed us .. there is no way to reach a better life for all citizens and residents of Lebanon than to disarm Hezbollah, preferably willingly or otherwise as necessary. the alternative is continuing degradation as a result of statsis, corruption, and infiltration by those who seek to use our birthrights for their own purposes.

"Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Friday called Israel’s strike on two buildings in the Beirut southern suburb of al-Jamous “a dangerous escalation,” urging the army chief to act quickly to uncover those behind the irresponsible rocket fire that threatens Lebanon’s stability, and arrest them.

"Salam contacted the army chief and asked him to act quickly to undertake the necessary investigations to uncover those behind the irresponsible rocket fire that threatens Lebanon’s stability and security,” according to a statement from his office, urging “intensified efforts” to arrest the perpetrators."

Doesn't he realise that in actual event he only needs to hold one meeting to solve the whole problem. That meeting being with the Israeli Prime Minister.
