Aoun discusses Israeli occupation with German FM

President Joseph Aoun told Wednesday German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock that Israel has refused to leave the five "strategic" hills where Israeli troops are still deployed beyond a Feb. 18 deadline for full withdrawal.

"Israel has refused all the Lebanese proposals to leave the five hills in south Lebanon and is still detaining a number of Lebanese prisoners," Aoun told Baerbock, adding that Israel is obstructing the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and violating a ceasefire reached in late November by occupying Lebanese land.

Baerbock's visit to Lebanon to discuss the Israeli conflict comes a day after Israel resumed its war on Gaza with a series of air strikes on a scale not seen since a ceasefire began in January.

Baerbock had criticized Wednesday ahead of her trip to Lebanon the resumption of the war in Gaza, saying it threatens the peace efforts of Arab states.

Why didn't she answer him that if the Lebaqnese side had carried out its obligations under the cease fire agreement then holding onto the 5 points wuold not have been needed. Does the LAF control the length of the whole border between the 2 countries?- No. Did the LAF push all Hizballah terrorists back north of the Litani? - No. Did the LAF confiscate all the weapons held by Hizballah (or even a single one)? - No. So who is obstructing the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and violating a ceasefire reached in late November?
