Aoun asks army to consolidate ceasefire on Syria border

President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday stressed the need to consolidate the ceasefire on Syria’s border.

A Presidency statement said Aoun followed up on the situation in a series of phone calls with Army Commander General Rudolph Haykal, who briefed him on “the measures that the army is taking to restore calm and stability in the region.”

Aoun for his part emphasized the need to “consolidate the ceasefire, halt the attacks and control the frontier.”

The army had earlier in the day entered into the Lebanese part of the border town of Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali, which witnessed clashes between Lebanese clans and military forces from Syria’s new administration.
