US Assistant Secretary of State to visit Lebanon
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf will visit Lebanon in the last week of March as part of a tour of a number of countries in the region, a Lebanese official source said.
The source told Russia’s Sputnik news agency that Leaf is scheduled to meet with Speaker Nabih Berri, caretaker PM Najib Mikati, caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib and a number of Lebanese political leaders.
She will “follow up on the results of the five-party meeting that was held in February in the French capital, which saw the participation of the U.S., France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and discussed the Lebanese file with all its political, economic, financial and humanitarian aspects,” the source added.
