Berri warns Lebanon can bear few more weeks of deterioration
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday warned that Lebanon can only bear a few more “weeks” of further deterioration at all levels.
“Lebanon might bear for a few weeks, but it can’t bear more than that, and Lebanon and the Lebanese cannot bear further deterioration,” Berri said in a meeting with Press Syndicate chief Awni al-Kaaki and the members of the syndicate.
“The top priority is the election of a president,” Berri added, reiterating his call for “consensus” over the presidential election.
“God created us different and separate so that we listen to each other and come together. In the face of the accumulation of crises, mainly the economic crisis which plunged 80% of the Lebanese people under the poverty line, in addition to the electricity crisis on which we spent tens of billions and the dialogue with the International Monetary Fund, that all must lead to speeding up the election of a president,” Berri went on to say.
He also confirmed that he will continue to schedule a president election session every week.
Berri should b e mindful of world events and capitalize on them, rather than again capitulate ..
"... First, chanting “death to the dictator” means targeting the idea of Velayat-e Faqih and thus the hold that men with turbans have over the country, meaning they are targeting the Khomeinist project as a whole. Second, repeatedly targeting pictures of Qassem Soliemani means targeting the idea of Iranian expansion.
Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen have fallen victim to this expansion, which stretches as far as Europe through Iranian drones. ..
The same is true for attacking Hassan Nasrallah, as it demonstrated the degree of awareness that Iranian youths have and that Nassralah is nothing other than the second in command of Iranian expansion after Soleimani. Among the disastrous ramifications of this fact is that the Iranian regime has used Hezbollah and others in Iraq to clamp down on those now protesting in Iran. .."
