President Michel Aoun held talks Friday with visiting French senator Ronan Le Gleut, who was accompanied by the counselor of the French abroad for Lebanon and Syria, Lucas Lamah.

Le Gleut conveyed to Aoun French Senate President Gérard Larcher’s warm wishes with the beginning of the new year and his “permanent keenness on consolidating the ties of friendship between France and Lebanon in the various fields.”

He also handed him a copy of the speech delivered by Larcher in the Senate in November, in which he hoped for “a domestic inter-Lebanese dialogue tackling the challenges of sovereignty.”

In a speech on December 27, Aoun proposed “urgent” national dialogue over “broad administrative and financial decentralization, a defense strategy to protect Lebanon, and a financial and economic recovery plan that would include the necessary reforms and a fair distribution of losses.”
