Highly Advanced Israeli Drone Crashes in Field

One of the most sophisticated drones in the Israeli military crashed by accident in a field on Sunday, without causing casualties, an army spokeswoman said.

"An Eytan (meaning "strong" in Hebrew) crashed by accident into a field today in Israel during a test being carried out jointly by the army and Israel Aerospace Industries. There were no injuries," the spokeswoman told Agence France Presse.

Israel's private Channel 10 television said a wing broke off, apparently because of a heavy payload, causing a loss estimated at 10 million dollars.

The huge drone, of which the Israeli army only has a few in service, is the size of a Boeing 737, can fly 36 hours non-stop -- bringing Israel's arch-foe Iran within range -- and carry a payload at an altitude of 13,000 meters (40,000 feet).

Who writes this???? No it is NOT the same size of a Boeing 737. Get your facts, because frankly, reading these articles on naharnet is a joke.

This is not even half the size of a 737.

@ Cedarjet

Could it be the wingspan they are referring to?

Excuse cedar. He meant it cannot have as many seats as 737.

Neither it's wingspan nor it's length are near the size of a Boeing 737.

Reflects the reporting/publishing at naharnet.
