Aoun Calls for Staging Demonstration over Electricity Crisis
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFree Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stated on Tuesday that some sides are seeking to “obstruct” the role of Change and Reform ministers in the government, urging the cabinet to seriously deal with the electricity crisis.
He called on the Lebanese “who are paying their electricity bill to prepare themselves for a peaceful demonstration over the crisis.”
He made his statements after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting at Rabiyeh.
Aoun continued: “We will not allow anyone to harm us.”
The MP added that the location and date of the demonstration will be announced later.
“We will not surrender or run away. We are ready for the battle. The state will either function properly or it will remain crippled,” he stated.
“We have come to rectify what they have ruined, and now those who have created the chaos are once against obstructing state functioning,” he remarked.
In September, the government approved Energy Minister Jebran Bassil’s electricity plan to produce 700 megawatts at the cost of $1.2 billion.
“Some sectors in Lebanon have plunged deeper into chaos between 1990 and 2005 and all the energy ministers that have assumed the role after 2005 have admitted that Lebanon is suffering from an energy crisis,” Aoun stressed.
He stated that he does not want the presidency, but is seeking the rise of the republic.
Indirectly addressing President Michel Suleiman, he declared: “They sought the election of a president who would act as a referee between the rival political camps, but instead we have a president who acts against us.”
“The ministries we are in control now will be in better shape in 2013 than the way they were when we took over them,” the MP said.
“We represent the Lebanese people and we will not allow anyone to harm us,” Aoun added.

Aoun: We will not hand over the ministries in 2013. We will ban MPs from becoming ministers. We represent the Lebanese people and we will not allow anyone to harm us.

Aoun: They wanted to elect a president who would serve as a referee between the rival camp and we ended up with a ruler who is biased against us.

Aoun: We prevented the Nahr al-Bared crisis from developing into a Palestinian-Lebanese conflict and we settled the May 7 affair when we headed to Doha. We have repeatedly told them that Michel Aoun does not want the presidency but the republic.

FPM leader MP Michel Aoun after Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: Several sectors have plunged deeper into chaos between 1990 and 2005.
OH mon cher general, you are refering to the period your syrian allies where in power???
"Aoun: We will not surrender or run away" .. Oh boy, where did we hear that one before...
and in other news General Aoun was spotted in Bouj Hammoud shopping for new pajamas and a suitcase when asked Aoun was quoted as saying "I'm looking for some loose fitting pajamas that wouldn't pinch when running".
I am a lebanese and i do not want you and your son in law. Who the hell told you the lebanese want you? are you dreaming or hallucinating?since you took over the lebanese people starved . froze and got paralyzed. You are ready to fight you said? beleive most lebanese people are fed up with you and ready to fight you with their teeth.
As usual , threats and violent language, war and etc... One that has a little brains to think would know that Aoun has 13 ministers in the cabinet, thus influential power to make decisions, of course if you add Amal and Hezb ministers, they have the majority and can by pass plans in order to be accepted. So let us think for a moment, if Gebran was stopped, it means ministers which are allied to them as well are not in favor of his plan. This means even in your alliance you cannot work things out. As well as Gebran's plan is a backwards plan, he could have proposed renewable energy that could produce a lot more for a less costs on the project just like in Egypt. But of course as i have said, filling pockets is easier this way and its is the easiest solution but to come back to mazout and pollution and a fast running plan with no future because once the oil gets up, we are done again.
CLAOUN...You should be lucky if you are going to find enough MP seats in 2013...As a matter of fact, and due to your irreversible illness, you will definitly be in Deir El Salib for good then..
Damn it's Tuesday , can we change the calender and remove this day from the week and make 6 days week . someone please help us
Not to mention as well something very important that everybody forgot. Today , 24 /1/ 2012, March 8th is the sole governor of Lebanon. They are " Legally " capable of dismantling the so-called mafias stealing electricity. As well as theyve got the army under their control and Hezb is with them ( the biggest militaary force) so what they should do is send the army to the north where people dont pay and cut them. and send Hezb in the south handle this with their people. But yet again, all is talk and they always want to find a reason for their failures. Anyway Hezbollah met with Patriarch Rahi and MOUTRAN AOUDI, which is against them, for one simple reason. They know war is maybe coming and last time the chiite came over to all lebanese regions to flee the south, they need to make the christian believe they care so they can welcome them again, because for the sunnis, they wont anymore.
It is not new that Gebran and Aoun want to wage a war against evheyerybody. They will want to plunge Lebanon again in to another interior conflict under the electricity apparatus. They have the state, the army and the resistance. they are the strongest and yet again they make people think there are mafias that they cannot handle. Is it a joke or what? the only people you cannot handle are yours. Many rumours have been going on that in Beirut FPM followers have put up Motors and are doing businesses out of it. Everybody knows OTV is a pile of lies and fabricated news. God will judge you one day and you are no better than March 14th. You are all bunch of followers and we need a real " TSUNAMI" to wipe out the filth in this country.
"We represent the Lebanese people and we will not allow anyone to harm us.".. humm, harm us, not harm them ie the Lebanese people, interesting everything has to be about him.
what is this guy talking about? is he for real?
I for one would have liked to hear his opinion about the iranian declaration!!!!!!!!!
he's calling for the people to demonstrate against his government - someone please up the dosage, he's dementia is becoming acute...
is he for real, he runs the ministry himself with that bafoon of a son in law........ and does not like the way it is going
Who is the state? First, resign and then participate in demonstrations! Are you demonstrating against yourself?
Is this guy for real? He will spend the rest of his life blaming others no matter what position he is in.....
@Skyfall... Well put!!!...especially: "you are no better than March 14th. You are all bunch of followers and we need a real " TSUNAMI" to wipe out the filth in this country."
We lost power after it was given to your son in law, like we lost Baabda after you were in charge of it to the Syrian invadors. Corruption and failure is somthing that you are proud off, just like you allying with the most dangerous terrorist group on earth Hezbollah.
Calling for Demonstrations!!! Against who???
Aoun has 10 ministers in this so called government and he is acting like he is the opposition.
Stop gebran bassil! Please overthrow him!! Kick him out!!! We are freezing!!! We are being robbed by local generator mafias!! For what??? For him to fight his stupid war with 14 march!!!! A 10 years old can find a solution much feasible then his 1.2 billion dollars stupid plan!!!! For god sake people, wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop the stupid gebran bassil!!!! I am going to open a website for that www.stopstupidgebranbassil.com !!!
going to streets again!!!...this is madness...no vision, no strategy, no plan...poor Tayyar....
for the first time, I notice that 14 March looking better w.r.t. planning and strategy...lessons learnt, no doubt...
“We represent the Lebanese people "
ths is the big problem of orange puppet: he is so self sufficient and arrogant that he thinks that only him represent the people and no one else...
and in which country does a majority ask people to demonstrate against themselves?
poor M8... thet see so many enemies every where that they are starting to see themselves as their enemies!!! hahaha
if you are going to spend 1.2 billion dollars do not spend it for 700 mega-whats because it is over priced thus the Lebanese people have to pay more for electricity. sure the electricity will not go out as "often" but they have to pay 20 to 30 percent more. would it be wise to spend the money on renovating the 7 dams or to improve the grid system so no energy is wasted?
I have been researching into Lebanon's electricity crises. Aside the electrical sector is "mafia" controlled there is a inefficiency due to old un-maintained infrastructure not because we need another power station... renovate the existing power station and make more eco-friendly dams and we do not need to ration electricity and have a mafia... go Aoun protest about that!
awal mara bchouf balad beetssir fi mouzahara michain ydaif3ou 3an wizra feshlet bi 3amala shi gharib
well cookie i am an argonomist but not a engineer per say and i kniw how to do math. and the bill does include renovating the grid system you are right but when i read they are building a power station i assume that most of that money is going to the construction of the power plant. in MY opinion if i have to construct a new electrical station, i would construct a dam rather a power station. because power station use crude oil and natural gas which are getting more expensive every year. not to mention offshore wind mills..... believe it or not these eco-energy projects do exist it is just the public does not know them because they are to busy working to pay the electrical bill :-\
I am confused! is he demanding that we go into the streets to protest against him and his son-in-law cause they are not able to administer the Energy ministy? The gov already approved his 1.2 billion dollars but not on his terms.
When one third of the population does not pay bills and even steal electricity under the benediction of their chiefs, no wonder why the EDL is always drawn in debts. This is the case of Dahyieh and the South. Laws do not apply there. The funniest is that they call for building a state of "chrakeh" and "nazeha" :D.
Poor Lebanon.
