Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri stated on Sunday that United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s visit to Lebanon is aimed at stressing the need for Lebanon to implement Security Council resolutions.

He said via Twitter that the U.N. chief also sought to emphasize the need for Lebanon to respect the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

Addressing Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s speech on Saturday, the former premier said: “Hizbullah does not want to admit that there are different opinions in the country on its weapons.”

Nasrallah stated on Saturday that Ban’s concern about his party’s arms gives him comfort and happiness, vowing that the party will grow stronger.

Ban told a press conference following talks with Lebanese leaders on Friday that he was "deeply concerned" about the military prowess of Hizbullah.

Nasrallah vowed that his party will not give up its arms, stressing that the “resistance, army, and the people are the only guarantee” to safeguard Lebanon.
