Body of Lebanese Teen Found Near Border with Syria in Wadi Khaled
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe body of a Lebanese teenager was found with a bullet wound in the stomach at an earth mound in the border area of Wadi Khaled in the northern district of Akkar, the National News Agency reported Saturday.
However, the circumstances of the death of Hassan Obeid near the earth mound that separates the northern Qarha town from Syria were not clear yet.
While Voice of Lebanon radio station (93.3) said the 17-year-old had committed suicide, other reports said the young man died from cross border Syrian fire.
They said Obeid died of his wounds after he was taken to a hospital in Akkar.
Three Lebanese men were killed in Wadi Khaled on December 27 when Syrian troops opened fire on their car.
On December 2, dozens of terrified families fled their homes in Wadi Khaled after shooting from the Syrian side of the border wounded two men and a woman.
In recent months, thousands of people have fled into Lebanon from border districts of Syria as troops have resorted to mounting violence to crush anti-regime protests raging in the neighboring country since March.
Well it's really pretty easy to determine if he had shot himself or had been shot from across the border: 1) Find the gun that he had allegedly shot himself with. 2) Ballistics tests on his body should determine whether the bullet was fired at point-blank range or from a distance. Come on, you don't need a Sherlock on the job; anybody with a three-digit IQ could do just fine.
