Trump Offers to Mediate in Qatar Crisis
U.S. President Donald Trump offered on Thursday to mediate in the crisis between Qatar and its Arab neighbors and said he believed the dispute could be solved "fairly easily."
"I would be willing to be the mediator," Trump told reporters at a joint press conference with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah. "I think it's something that's going to get solved fairly easily."
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt announced on June 5 they had cut diplomatic and economic ties with Qatar, accusing it of having ties with Shiite Iran and fundamentalist Islamist groups.
President Trump has invited France's President Macron to be a guest on his TV game show, "What Do The Experts Say?", if an opening develops. Leaks from the White House suggest Macron's chances of getting on the show would be improved if he dressed a little more "colorfully" and perhaps if he spoke a foreign language. Whatever Trump is up to, you have to admire him for making the Emir of Kuwait look uncomfortable in public, not to say "dim-witted". Probably he's thinking to himself, "Whatever is President Trump up to?"
